Prostate Cancer - Racing. A Temporary Cure for Fatigue

Lately Fuzzy has been spending much of his day napping. Fuzzy is now drifting off to dreamland around 8:30 and missing 1/2 of whatever it was he was watching on the TV. Fuzzy is tired most of the time and finds it a struggle to get errands run and work done around the house. It is not impossible but Fuzzy is always looking for the couch and a nap.

Those of you who know Fuzzy, know he is a real motor sport fan. You put a motor in or on it and race it on land or water and you’ve got Fuzzy’s attention. Fuzzy has even watched lawn mowers and garden tractors race. I can hear some of you asking "they don’t do that , do they? "  You bet they do. Its at Lowes Motor Speedway in Charlotte.

So when Fuzzy found out that the World of Outlaws Sprint Car race series was coming to OCFS, he knew he had to be there. OCFS is a 5/8 mile oval dirt track. Actually it is really hard clay. There are races there every Saturday night during the season and Fuzzy tries to go several times a season. Fuzzy goes to the drive in section which is located along the back stretch. You can bring coolers and grills as well as your lawn chairs to watch the races. There is a food stand that serves up everything from cotton candy to a fantastic sausage and peppers, which Fuzzy believes is the best around. Maybe it is due to the clay dust that eventually covers everything once the cars start running on the track.

There were two classes of cars running this night. One was a local DIRT class called Sportsmen.

They are quick and the competition is excellent as they race around the 5/8 mile. There are several other classes that race on the weekend and these guys are more or less the starter group and provide a great show. But now for the real thrill and the one that kept Fuzzy on alert all night. These Sprint Cars are FAST.  The track record was set by one of these by going around the track at an average speed of 133.67 MPH. cars 025.jpg

There was enough humidity in the air that night that the fastest cars had a vapor trail coming off the edge of the wing on the top of the car. Can you imagine a car going fast enough to squeeze the moisture right out of the air and have a vapor trail coming from it?

Fuzzy has a need for speed and it was well satisfied this night. Fuzzy took JR with him in case he started to fall asleep but his services were not needed and not once did Fuzzy’s adrenalin let him feel tired. Fuzzy knows that this is not for everyone and thank goodness it isn’t because there would be no place for Fuzzy to park! So for those of you who do like it or would like to find out more about it Fuzzy says LET’S GO RACING!
